The best foods for your piggy.

Since Guinea pigs are becoming one of the hottest pets to get now, we want to make sure they are cared for. So here is a quick list of what to feed and not feed them while in your care. Which we hope will be for many years to come.

The best foods to eat..

Red Peppers (green/yellow /pepper).Red has the highest vitamin C concentration

Carrots-Both root and the green tops are fine

Apples-Make sure no seeds

Oranges

Leafy Greens like the red lettuce, romaine, Boston lettuce. Make sure you feed these in moderation to prevent diarrhea.

Cucumbers

Broccoli (in moderation since it can be gassy and cause pain)

Green Beans

Grapes

Bananas

Dandelion Greens

Strawberries

Clementines andOranges(Take the pulp out and let them pick at it or lick.

Spinach

Cherry Tomatoes

Parsley (Curley or flat)

 

Food NEVER to give pigs…NEVER!! We mean it NEVER!

Iceburg Lettuce

Cabbage-Any type

Cauliflower

Potato peelings

Raw beans(not green beans, serve raw hard split peas,pinto beans)

Shelled nuts or seeds(Ex;Sunflower seeds)

Rhubarb

Meat,Fish,..remember they love vegetables and salad.

Dairy Products-This causes internal problems

Chocolate, Coffee or other caffeine related products.

Cookies-Bread

Hamster food, Gerbil food, rabbit food. Just stick with the basic pig food.

Corn Kernels. No popcorn either.

Sugary foods like donuts, candy, soda.

Ice Cream

Processed or fried foods…none. Anything spicy.

Cheese.
